Boeing 29A
The Stratocruiser was basically a civilian version of the B-29 with similar wings and empennage. Both types were initially burdened with engine problems, the B-29s with the infamous pyromaniac 3350s and the Whitney 4360 "corncob" engines. The long list of woes attributed to those 28-cylinder monstrosities defeated the most determined efforts of engineers and public relations officers.
