The «real» Stratotanker was a Boeing 707 Version
566th AIR FORCE BAND
ILLINOIS AIR NATIONAL GUARD
Made up entirely of volunteers, these man gather together one week-end each month to play their part as citizen airmen. They com from all walks of life, school teachers, airline pilots, computer programmers and salesmen. They play throughout the world representing the Air National Guard, lifting the morals of all those within sight or sound. They have played for Presidents, Kings, Queens, Governors, and millions of people throughout the years. In the background is pictured an Illinois Air National Guard KC-97 tanker aircraft that serves a world wide refueling mission.

Hunter Air Force Base, Georgia The Boeing KC-97G Stratotanker is used for aerial refueling of Air Force fighters and bombers. Transferable fuel is carried in 15 tanks in the upper and lower decks and in two detachable wing tanks. It is delivered by a flying boom (under tail), and can be pumped out at a rate of 600 gallons a minute.

Once a familiar sight in Great Britain but now just a memory. This KC97 ist captured using all six engines whilst taking off from Mildenhall.
